Lucy Haughton was born on April 4, 1914, in the rural heart of Hanover Parish, Jamaica. To those who knew and loved her, she was known by many names—Grandma, Aunt Lucy, Ma, or simply Miss Lucy—each one a testament to the many lives she touched.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Lucy walked humbly with her Creator and lived a life defined by quiet servitude. Her heart was a refuge for the vulnerable; she gave freely to all and extended kindness without condition. Yet she never wavered in her devotion to her own family, balancing the needs of her household with an unwavering sense of duty and grace.
In her community, she was regarded as a pillar of dignity, a source of strength, and a model of selfless generosity. Her life was not marked by wealth or fame, but by the countless acts of compassion that rippled through the generations. She embodied the words of 1 Peter 4:10, using every gift she had been given to serve others as a faithful steward of God's grace in all its forms.
It is in her honor and in the spirit of her lifelong mission, that this foundation was established. We are committed to carrying forward her legacy by serving the rural communities of Jamaica and extending the same love and care that Lucy so freely gave, always remembering that we too are called to be faithful stewards of the grace entrusted to us.
